The council of Indian School certificate examination (CISCE) board has introduced certain changes in the marking scheme in the ISC ( Indian School Certificate) which is also known as Class 12 Board Examination. According to the CISCE Board new marking scheme the theory and practical examination of 12th Board would be held in the ratio of 70:30 marks, i.e. 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical. Earlier, the theory and practical examination both were held for 50 marks each. These changes had been made in almost every subject and would be visible in Computer Science, Fashion Designing, Physical Education, Indian Classical Music (Hindustani), Indian Classical Music (Carnatic style) and Western Music.
The theory and practical examination would be held for a duration of 3 hours from now onward.
The Chief Executive Officer of CISCE, Gerry Arathoon said, “Taking into consideration the requirements of the universities and that of the children these changes have been introduced. Every concerned school has been informed through circulars issued by the board and have been assigned the task to inform students and parents,” and these changes are only applicable for 12th Board Examination.
CISCE is the national level, private board of school education in India that conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination for class 10th and class 12th respectively.
CISCE Board was established in 1958 and now the board has the total number of 2,082 schools across India affiliated to it. This change in the marking scheme is a very good move by the CISCE board in improving the standards of the students studying 12th Board. This board is considered as the toughest board for school education as compared to that of CBSE. CISCE regularly change it’s strategy so as to bring some change in the education pattern among the students and also in the education system. It is celebrating over 50 years in providing excellence in the education system and have also been succeeded in it. - The Ratio of marks distributed between theory and practical paper is in the ratio of 70:30.
- The theory examination will be of 70 marks and the practical examination will be of 30 marks.
- In the beginning, both the practical and theory were of 50 marks.
- The theory and the practical examination will be on 3 hours duration.
- The ISC examination is conducted in more than 55 languages in which 15 are Indian Languages and 8 are foreign languages and 3 are classical languages.
