SBI has released recruitment notification for the candidates for the post of Probationary Officers recently. There are many candidates who are waiting for this examination notification, so they applied for this examination successfully. The examination date is not yet announced officially. State Bank of India (SBI) is an Indian multinational, Public Sector banking and financial services company. The headquarter of SBI is located in Mumbai. Every year it organized many exams for their department to recruit the candidates. Now SBI has issued the notification of Probationary Officer (PO) vacancies in their department. The candidates will be select for this post after clearing the selection process.

From the last year, SBI has changed the Exam Pattern and selection process for Probationary Officer Exam. According to the new Exam pattern, the Selection Process of the Examination consists of 3 phases that are given below:

  • Phase 1: Online Preliminary Exam ( Objective type)
  • Phase 2: Mains Exam (Objective + Descriptive)
  • Phase 3: Group Discussion & Interview (Verbal)

SBI PO 2016 Prelims Syllabus and Pattern:

The candidates who are preparing for the examination this information will help them for their preparation and practice before the examination. Here  we are giving details about the exam paper pattern and examination syllabus. So that the candidates can make the strategy for their studies to qualify the examination.

The SBI Prelims exam will be based on objective type questions that contain total 100 questions of 100 marks. The examination paper will be divided into 3 section and total time duration will be 1 hour. There is also negative marking of 1/4th Marks for any wrong answer , so candidates should be sure when marking the answer. The SBI Prelims exam pattern is as follows

SBI PO 2016 Mains Syllabus and Pattern: 

  • To appear in the mains exam, candidates have to qualify the prelims examination.
  • The SBI Mains exam consists of two parts: first objective test and  Second descriptive test.

First Part: Objective Test- It  has 4 sections that is based on multiple choice question. Total time duration is for 3 hours and total marks of examination paper is 200 marks. The cutoff is applied in two stages i.e. sectional cutoff and overall cutoff.

Deduction of 1/4th Marks for any incorrect answer.

Descriptive Test: The descriptive test is conducted in English language that contains Essay writing and Letter writing for 50 marks and time duration is for 30 mins. The Descriptive test is online based examination  so candidates have to give answer on the computer by typing on it.

  • The topic for Essay  based on the current Socio – Economic issue, Economic Issue and for Letter Writing topic can be Business letter, Personal Letter, Complaint Letter etc.
  • There are 3 choices given and candidates have to select one among the available choices.
  • It is compulsory for the candidates to qualify in both the test separately.

Phase-3  Group Discussion (20 Marks) and Interview (30 Marks)

The candidates who qualify the written examination according to the cutoff score in Main examination will be called  for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal interview (PI) where the candidates will  face the interview board. The maximum marks decided for Group discussion and interview are 20 and 30 marks respectively.
